Isaiah 41:10 Bible Verse: Text, Meaning, and Context

Isaiah 41:10 is a short but strong promise of God's nearness. It speaks directly to fear with assurance of presence, help, and steady support. Many readers turn to this verse for comfort when life feels uncertain or overwhelming.

What happens in Isaiah 41:10?

In this verse, God tells His people not to fear because He is with them and belongs to them. The promise is not only that He sees their trouble, but that He will strengthen them, help them, and hold them up with His righteous hand. In the surrounding verses, this assurance comes to a people God has chosen and called, while those who oppose them will not prevail. The focus stays on God's faithful care rather than human ability.

Isaiah 41 is part of a section where God speaks comfort to Israel after setting aside idols as powerless. Verses 7-13 identify God's people as chosen and upheld by Him, and verse 10 stands at the center of that encouragement. It links the call not to fear with God's personal commitment to help and protect.

  • God's presenceFear is answered first by God's nearness: He is with His people in the middle of their weakness.
  • Strength and helpGod promises not just comfort, but active support, giving strength and practical help when needed.
  • Chosen and upheldThe verse fits a larger promise that God has chosen His people and will keep them steady.
  • What does it change to hear this promise as God's direct word to His people?
  • How do the promises of strength and help speak to a season of fear or weakness?
  • What does it mean to be upheld by God's righteous hand?

Isaiah 41

7The craftsman encourages the goldsmith,

and he who wields the hammer

cheers him who strikes the anvil,

saying of the welding, “It is good.”

He nails it down so it will not be toppled.

8“But you, O Israel, My servant,

Jacob, whom I have chosen,

descendant of Abraham My friend—

9I brought you from the ends of the earth

and called you from its farthest corners.

I said, ‘You are My servant.’

I have chosen and not rejected you.

10Do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be afraid, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you; I will surely help you;

I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.

11Behold, all who rage against you

will be ashamed and disgraced;

those who contend with you

will be reduced to nothing and will perish.

12You will seek them but will not find them.

Those who wage war against you will come to nothing.

13For I am the LORD your God,

who takes hold of your right hand

and tells you: Do not fear,

I will help you.
