Psalm 27:14 Bible Verse: Text, Meaning, and Context

Psalm 27:14 gives a simple but hard command: keep waiting on the Lord. In the middle of pressure and fear, the verse calls for courage, strength, and patient trust in God's timing and help.

What happens in Psalm 27:14?

This verse closes the Psalm with a direct appeal to trust God without giving in to fear. The speaker has already asked for guidance, protection, and rescue from enemies. Even so, confidence remains that God will act with goodness. The repeated call to wait patiently is paired with strength and courage, showing that waiting is not passive surrender but steady faith. It is a final encouragement to hold on when answers are delayed and circumstances stay tense.

Psalm 27 moves between confident trust and urgent prayer. In the surrounding verses, the speaker asks the Lord for direction and protection while facing false accusations and hostile opposition. Verse 14 acts as the closing charge of the psalm, bringing the earlier requests together into a steady posture of waiting for God with courage.

  • Patient TrustFaith waits for God to act without rushing ahead in fear or doubt.
  • CourageThe verse links waiting with inner strength, not weakness.
  • Hope in GodThe speaker expects to see the Lord's goodness even before relief comes.
  • What does it look like to wait patiently for the Lord in a real situation today?
  • How does courage help a person trust God while facing uncertainty?
  • What past evidence of God's goodness can strengthen your waiting?

Psalms 27

11Teach me Your way, O LORD,

and lead me on a level path,

because of my oppressors.

12Do not hand me over to the will of my foes,

for false witnesses rise up against me,

breathing out violence.

13Still I am certain to see

the goodness of the LORD

in the land of the living.

14Wait patiently for the LORD;

be strong and courageous.

Wait patiently for the LORD!
